Experiences on the road

Its been a long I wrote one page for my blog ... don't no why, didn't got the motivation and subject to write one ... I was out of subject ...
So just yesterday I got one subject to ramble on ... its been year and half in Seattle. Got a bunch of friends roam around, seeing places all over the country ... its great to have such enthusiastic people around ... So I never missed much weekends, always made a trip out of it. Here I will remember some of my funny situations in those trips, t which I made necessary contribution ... I will try to keep the chronological order but if not never mind.

May 2007: Trip to LasVegas & Grand canyon

Well in the journey from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon we stopped at Zion National Park. It is nice place to visit if you have some time to spare, great natural beauty surrounded by high standing mountains ... well we were taking pictures everywhere (everyone in the team have a semi-SLR at least) ... and also we are talking some pictures of each other. So I was asked to take some portrait picture of a friend with the beautiful mountain in background ... i already have my SLR and another one of my friend. So I took the picture and just going to hand over my friends camera and it happened. We heard a sound of a plastic thing dropped and it rolled to the nearest drain opening ... first we thought it was the lens cap of the other camera i.e. friend's camera but eventually I found it was mine ... we look at each other helplessly as the cap went to hole covered with metal jail ... as it is supposed to be a drain in the middle of nowhere, at first we all lost the hope of getting the lens cap back ... but fortunately the drain was filled with mud(dry) and the lens cap was just beyond our reach resting at the bottom of the hole or top of the dry mud ... the worst part is the metal cover has a very little opening to let any grown man hand to go through ... we tried just getting some scratches ... we a idea clicked we saw some tree branches, so we tried with two long tree branch to life the cap to the metal cover opening ... it was a pretty good approach but not smart enough ... we failed over n over ... number of times we closely made it to the top but it was to hard to get as th branch are very slim and the lens cap is slippery, we are not getting any grip ... then a gentleman came to rescue, just thought it might be interesting to see what 4 people trying to do looking and poking inside a drain with wooden sticks in such a scenic place ... we told him our miserable approach to get the lens cap out ... well he thought for a moment and went back to his little boy and asked to spit out something ... its a chewed chewing gum ... put the chewing gum at the edge of the stick and put it inside the drain ad let the lens cap get stuck to it ... it worked like magic got back the cap at the first attempt ... such a smart solution ... such a relief ... i got my lens cap back ... the moral of the story chewing gum is very good for your teeth, breath and chewing it may help you & others in tough situation like mine ... so always keep a pack of chewing gum with you [:D]

September 2007: The South Dakota Trip

Its long and its a road trip, 18+ hours of driving thru 5 states Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming & South Dakota ... the longest trip we ever made by road. We went to see Mount Rushmore & Badlands National Park but seen many more interesting places around. Places like Crazy Horse surprise you about how big a man's dream can be ... Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski set to the make biggest & highest man-made sculpture in human history. And then you see the Devils Tower, you realize the power of nature ... it can make such structure and spellbound you ... there is a nice tribal story about Devil's Tower, will tell another time, but standing at the bottom of the Devils Tower makes you believe that ... what a wonderful natural creation ... We really seen a lot in three days ... Well the funny accident happened in our way back ... I am the driver and we are driving on I-90 back to Seattle ... We stopped at a rest area after Deerlodge ... I locked the car and opened the trunk to keep a paper in my bag pack ... I closed the trunk and damn! where is the key ... accidentally i dropped the inside the trunk and closed it ... don't ask me how, I surely couldn't believe myself ... I was stranded there beside the trunk confused ... car doors are locked, no window open, keys in the trunk which is also locked ... its about dark and we are running a hour late ... there was no town in 10 miles, just this rest are, so we are quite freaked out and planning to a night stay in the cold .. all our belongings are in the car safely locked [:D] ... we called the rental car company then our insurance and fortunately they sent a car mechanic from the nearest location to open the lock for us ... it easy for them ... we also weigh the option of satellite unlock, it might had been cool ... but we felt the freedom to be unlocked and ready to drive home ... fortunately our phone was working else it could have been a nightmare at night in a unknown rest area ... some of us were really scared about that.

I will add-on more as I remember ...
