A trip to Yellowstone(best known as Peela Patthar for namesake)
A second trip to Yellowstone after a year. Last year in the second week of May first drove to this amazing park ... This time last week of may ... I will come to the amazing part later in my blog, first lets talk about this trip. Well best part of Yellowstone is you have to drive for 12 hours to reach ... hell of a driving experience within reach ... drive from evergreen Washington, crossing Idaho and Montana to the burning steamy place on earth ... It used to a volcano area several years ago, I missed to say million years ago ... well can't imagine what a million years look like ... the world was a crazy place that time ... crazy dino rino all stomping around, hot lava coming out of the earth, comets falling on the head ... but it seems there came lava shortage, a million years will too big to plan for earth ... so lava replaced by hot water ... Yellowstone is all about hot springs, geysers etc ... most of them look lot like water fountain with sound effects ... Well not to forget the smell of Hydrogen Sulphide all around, no fragrance or deodorant will survive ... and then colors of hot springs yellow red white brown black orange etc ... you walk through the smoke, its looks like heaven as shown in old hindi/bengali movies ... well there chhota geysers, mota geysers, noisy geysers, flat geysers all trying pull some water out and blow steams ... some are pulling mud ... people go crazy to see as it blow ... but the sad thing is there is only one faithful geyser here, the Old faithful ... it is punctual and huge ... others may be described as huge and has gone wild in ancient time but they are not faithful ... you might have wait 5 hours to 5 years to see them burst, but still it is not garenteed ... Sometime you might think Old Faithful is American sci-fi movie setting ...Well talked lot about geysers ... lets get back the wilderness of Yellowstone ... Every national park of America tell they have wild animals inside ... but as I might have told in my old blogs, I found squirrels & elks only ... Duh! don't even think to see Tiger/Lion/Elephants, they don't love America much, always in vacation doing African safari or jungle me mangal in countries like India, Burma etc ... But Yellowstone is a bit true about its habitat ... you get to bisons ... the huge ugly wild cows, you will see them all around you here ... They will walk on the road, give a pose for photographers in the middle of road, who cares about traffic in the park, they have right the way everywhere ... the park rangers will always tell you to stay in the wooden trail, do not near the geysers but no such rules for bisons, they stomp whole area ... you can easily tell seeing the footsteps and shit that a bison came to visit the geyser before you ... You an spot a bisons anywhere you like ... still people seems not to get enough of it, one of my trip mate took video of every bison in the park (from back and front) ... people might even dream to ride a bison and take a happy smiling picture with the handsome one ... I have noticed the suprise look in some of them ... the little one might be think who the hell are these creatures clicking all around ... don't they eat grass or so ... why they don't care about the privacy of bisons when they taking a nap in the fields or bath in the Madison river ... it is told that if a mummy bison become overprotective about her baby she might chase you with a speed of 30 miles/hour ... damn! a sprinter can't run that fast, you the cheese eating fat Americans just good to get run over ...
Next come the Elks, well nothing special to tell about them they seems to be totally flaky and running around, feeling the same like their fellow bisons ... Bers are next big thing to watch ... last time and this time, I saw a black bear at the same place in park ... same way we took a picture of a black spot (as the bear is far down from us) standing in the middle of road until the ranger pushed us into the car and forced to continue driving ... But this time we became twice lucky as a small grizzly bear cub came very near to the road ... the sad news is he became orphaned last year when a accident killed his mother ... this bear cub might not be aware of the menace of humans (drivers and photographers), so it came so close ... But it is worth a look at the gorgeous bear from such near ... We also spotted 3-4 wolfs on our way, the best thing happened on our way back, when a wolf came really close to our car for nice photo shoot ... I am not sure why it came so close to the window, but it seems he wanted to have a close look at human for its own clarifications ... or it is just looking for a new used car to borrow :D ... it might thinking of a trip to Yesomite for visiting the wolfs there ... The last but not the least, we spotted a Moose, the funny animal played memorable characters in Disney cartoon movies, sometime referred as cute by the French ... Well not to miss the wild humans who chased all other animals in park with a camera or a knife (the campers for barbecue) ... You will see lots of humans, busy in clicking its camera without even enjoying the beauty of Yellowstone
The last thing of Yellowstone which is astonishing is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone river ... the fantastic view of a colorful canyon with huge falls ... If you missed this one you should visit Yellowstone once more ... Forget the geysers, the real beauty of Yellowstone lies in these Canyons ... more than pictures, its a eye soothing experience ... It might not be vast as the Grand Canyon of Colorado river but it is far more artistic and full of colors ... The Waterfalls look heavenly at sunrise/sunset ... Last I should mention about snow coveted mountains surrounding Yellowstone and inside ... the lakes with their blue deep water and hugeness ... Long time back Yellowstone faced a huge fire, you will still see fallen logs in the mountains, black dead trees standing ... but you will also see small pine trees growing up, and they bring back the greenness of the park for sure ..
